When Karan Johar sets out to direct a film, you’re bound to have one with extravagant performances, catchy songs and addictive dance-steps. Previously, the director had roped in several choreographers and music-directors to give his films an icing-on-the-cake. Till date, the producer-director has directed four films and produced several more. Karan Johar the son of the late founder of Dharma Productions, Yash Johar, has included Jatin-Lalit, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and more recently one of the most sought-after music-directors, Vishal-Shekhar. As far as his previous films are concerned, each of them have managed to grab the attention of the masses with their appealing soundtracks, particularly Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna that opened at #1 and sold nearly 1,900,000 copies in India.

As for his upcoming movie titled Student of the Year, Karan Johar has put Vishal-Shekhar’s expertise to use. The film starring newcomers Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt features an interesting soundtrack that’s bound to have you engrossed all along. With lyrics penned down by Anvita Dutt Guptan, the movie’s soundtrack sports an assortment of music styles. While “Ishq Wala Love” shoulders towards the romantic side, sung by Shekhar Ravjiani, Salim Merchant, Neeti Mohan, the “Disco Song” is a reworked version of Disco Deewane sung by Benny Dayal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Nazia Hassan. And that’s not all. The soundtrack also includes “Vele”, a mix of Bhangra and HipHop, a song that’s crafted for discotheques.

This Karan Johar film comes with punchy tracks, nearly all of which you could shake a leg to. Other songs in the album include Ratta Maar, Radha and Kukkad, sung by Shahid Mallya. The film also packs a track called "Mashup of the Year" by DJ Kiran Kamath and various artists. The music of the film was well received, with the first two music-promos spreading across web-space like a wildfire.

Karan Johar has on previous account shown his love for music and dance, and has also choreographed the song Ratta Maar. Due to the lack of a choreographer on the day the song was being shot, Karan choreographed for the dance sequences himself. The director has also recently judged a dance show, which marked his first appearance as a judge on the small screen. The Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Student of the Year is one of the best examples of Karan Johar’s love for foot-tapping numbers and is one of the most anticipated films of the year, scheduled to release on the 19th of October 2012.
